Blog Post 6: Oral History

In this blog post, I have interview grandmother born in 1950 and have lived through 1970. I remember she tells how difficult it was for women to live during the time that they did not have equal wages as men and were being stereotyped and unable to do many things. She mentions the social movement back in Vietnam when women go on the street and protest for their rights as well as having the right to vote, equal pay as men. Listening to her story made me feel sad about how the world operates in a way that people classify each other based on gender, race, and social status.

Blog Post 3: A different future – Tai Thi

The world that feminist and anti-racist activism has succeeded in being a beautiful world to be able to express and do whatever you want. Where there are no oppression, hatred, and segregation, I imagine an ideal world that people genuinely treat each other with love and dignity. The world that every day is waking up that you don’t have to worry about your insecurity, you don’t worry about people’s judgment. Confidently going to class that not being worry about bullying because of your sexuality, ethnicity, or even applying for the job being able to work like everybody else regardless of your race or gender.

What is Feminism? – Tai Thi

The advocacy of women’s rights based on the equality of the sexes is the definition of feminism. I agree with the definition because there are no reasons why women should be mistreated based on their gender regardless of society’s beliefs, women must have the same freedom that everybody has. The definition of feminism in my word can be defined as the movement of demanding for women rights that equals men as well as having the right to vote, equal pay, etc.. My priority when it comes to feminism is that women should have the right to choose abortion because abortion is still illegal in many states. The second priority can be equal pay as it is still an issue that women receive lower pay than men. The third priority will be the law that protects women from domestic violence. The focal point of my feminist project is to educate people, and advocate for women’s rights, encourage women to speak up.
